EXPOSED: FAILON IS GINA’s ATTACK DOG VS RESPONSIBLE MINING

To salvage whatever Gina has of her image, she employs all of the Lopez clan’s resources to continue vilifying the mining industry.

Former DENR Secretary Gina Lopez is obviously trying to salvage whatever she can of her image (hey, it’s really hard to spin that ‘Let it Go’ and ‘I Believe I Can Fly’ numbers) by employing all of the Lopez clan’s resources to continue vilifying the mining industry.

Ted Failon has just finished doing surveillance on mining sites. The community, knowing full well Failon’s allegiance and agenda, prevented ABS-CBN’s top commentator from taking photos of the place. Failon brought a chopper and flew by the area. He also scouted Barangay Guisgis where Benguet Mines and Eramen are located. We all know what to expect: a slanted story from Failon depicting mining, as always, in a very atrocious light, an environmentally destructive industry that leaves host communities poor despite bringing profit to its operator.

This despite the fact that communities have actually benefitted from mining through scholarships, livelihood, outreach, and entrepreneurship programs initiated by the industry.

The mining industry has no champion as vocal as the Lopez’s cadre of personalities and commentators. All the industry have are the silent testimonies of community members whose lives have been improved by mining.

Just because the Lopez’s employees are louder does not mean they are right, just as how mining beneficiaries’ voices are soft, does not make their testimonies not real.

May mining sila, may subsidiary sila. Kita mo, kunwaring bibira dito, sisirain pala.

“They become really vicious and virulent. Ganu’n ‘yan. Mabasa, makita mo naman talagang tini-twist nila. ‘Yung slant na slant. Sinasadya nila. They do not complete the sentence. They zero in on the adjective or kung however you describe the situation.”

“Galit sila kapag natalo yung kandidato nila.

Kayong mga Prieto, kayong mga Lopez did your grandfathers live forever?”

EXPOSED: GINA LOPEZ IS DELUSIONAL

Excuse me? Are we talking about vested interest here? Are you sure you want to go there Ms. Overacting Secretary Gina Lopez?

Excuse me? Are we talking about vested interest here? Are you sure you want to go there?

Let’s see. Created own rules to ensure that mines will be closed down or suspend their operations, check. Created own rules so that the family-owned mining company will be exempted from first rule, check.

Irresponsible disposal of hazardous wastes by family-owned corporation left unpunished, check. Mismanage government funds and get away with it, check.

Oh, and use company-owned media outlets to spread lies and propaganda, CHECK.

Gina, please. Don’t us.

EXPOSED: THE LOPEZES ARE MAKING SURE THE ODDS ARE STACKED IN THEIR FAVOR

It seems like the Lopezes are ready for whatever outcome. Sigurista talaga. We’re wondering if the administration knows about this.

The Lopezes are savvy businessmen. They know how to take care of their assets. One of the ways they protect their businesses is to hinge their bets on winning politicians. They campaigned for PNoy. They campaigned for Grace Poe and Mar Roxas when both were frontrunners in the last elections. Now that Digong has won, they fielded one of their own for a government position in the person of Gina Lopez.

But what is this? One of the Lopezes, Ernie Lopez of ABS-CBN Publishing and a major player in the family business is seen bonding with one of Duterte’s fiercest critic, Senator Antonio Trillanes.

It seems like the Lopezes are ready for whatever outcome. Sigurista talaga. We’re wondering if the administration knows about this.

TRENDING: TOP 5 GINA LOPEZ BLUNDERS BEFORE THE CA

Gina Lopez is also known as Ms. Alternate Facts. She doesn’t follow the law, because she has her own appreciation to it, manoeuvring it to her own interest.

  1. “They’re not all proclaimed watersheds, but a watershed is a watershed is a watershed.”As DENR Secretary with the power to execute orders that can affect an entire industry and the loss of jobs for countless Filipinos, it is incumbent upon the Secretary to be clear about what the law says. Something Gina Lopez clearly is not an expert at, nor does she care.
  2. “I’m really not a technical person at all.”

When asked to define what an MPSA is, Gina Lopez answered with the above quote, adding that “she’d fail if the CA questions her on technicals. There you go.
  3. “Balfour has not commenced.”Opposer and geologist Caloy Arcilla syas before the CA that First Balfour, a Lopez-owned company, is operating near a watershed. Gina Lopez denied this. Arcilla points out to the committee that it says otherwise on First Balfour’s website.

Shortly after Arcilla’s testimony, the portion about the quarrying near a wathershed was taken down from First Balfour’s website.
  4. “CARAGA is the poorest region in the country.”

Gina Lopez was making this argument to close down mines, citing that despitd the presencd of mining the region is still the poorest in Mindanao.

Only CARAGA is not the poorest in the region. It’s not even in the top 20 poorest provinces in the country according to the Philippine Statistics Authority, as pointed out by Senator Migz Zubiri during the CA hearing.
  5. “I’ll be flying to the US.”

Lopez asked the CA to move the next hearing to May 8 as she will be flying to the United States this March for a spiritual retreat. In short, a vacation. “You should prioritize the CA,” Senator Franklin Drilon told her.

She will still fly out, prompting Senator Manny Pacquiao to tell media that Gina Lopez’s appointment will likely be bypassed.

Ikaw na ate.

TRENDING: 5 WAYS GINA LOPEZ SABOTAGED THE ECONOMY

Her reckless actions has made our economy very unstable. No wonder that her own family, doesn’t let her handle CRITICAL position in their business empire.

  1. No thanks to her irrational hatred of mining that has seen her canceling MPSA’s issued by the government, she has tarnished the country’s reputation in doing business and honoring contracts and agreements.
  2. An enormous amount of investment by multinational companies are at risk because of these cancelled contracts. Remember PIATCO? Well this is 100 times that scandal. She exposes the country on possible international arbitrations that will cost the government billions of pesos in legal fees.
  3. On the day she announced that she will head the DENR, mining stocks fell by 4 percent despite a healthy trading day for the Philippine Stock Exchange. Now, Lopez’s irresponsible announcements causes the whole stock market to plunge.
  4. With the stock market crashing, insider trading runs rampant. It is now being looked at and investigated.
  5. The saddest outcome of all these? 1.2 M workers will lose their jobs.

TRENDING: CA MEMBERS, HINILO NI GINA

Hindi namin lubos na maunawaan ang kanyang sagot sa tanong na “what’s the definition of a watershed?” Iba ka talaga, Madam Gina!

Ang akala namin ay lag lang ang Internet habang pinapanood sa FB ang confirmation hearing ng Commission on Appointments (CA) sa pagtatalaga kay Gina Lopez bilang Environment Secretary dahil hindi namin maunawaan ang kanyang sagot sa tanong na “what’s the definition of a watershed?”

Ang nakakalokang sagot ni Gina: “A watershed is a watershed because it functions as a watershed…”

It’s a mining contract between government and the mining company. I’m really not a technical person at all, but that’s why I have people who I trust.”

Ganoon?!

VIRAL: HIGH 5! – 5 TIMES GINA LOPEZ WAS A SPOILED BRAT

Our dear aristobrat, Overacting Secretary Gina Lopez, is so demanding and entitled. Just watch her actions in the last CA Hearing and see if we’re lying.

  1. Her deeply biased views on mining has her closing firms and suspending mining operations, despite not having enough basis for such decisions. She completely disregards MGB’s audits because she wants to have her way and rid the country of mining.
  2. When the media pushes her for answers about the audit results, she threw a fit and chastised members of the media. She said the media should only report about her advocacy.
  3. She threw a tantrum when an oversight committee she agreed to forming (the Mineral Industry Coordinating Committee or MICC) set out to investigate her decisions to close mines. She claims this is illegal. The kicker? She drafted the Memorandum of Agreement of the MICC.
  4. She rescheduled her CA confirmation a number of times. She wants to reschedule a hearing because she is going out of the country for a retreat. Does she expect the senate, the committee that will decide on her appointment, to adjust for her?
  5. Used to getting what she wants, she bypassed DOE Secretary Al Cusi and pressured a DOE official to issue a permit for a French firm to build a solar farm in Zamboanga. EcoGlobal is a favored firm by Lopez because of her rumored relationship with its head, John-Philippe Henry.

I strongly feel that we should not have any individuals there with strong business leanings which will influence and affect the decisions. I’m not accusing anyone. I’m just saying as a matter of policy. That’s the way it should be”.

VIRAL: GINA LOPEZ, TALKING TO HERSELF

Yet to be appointed and confirmed DENR Sec Gina Lopez made a bizarre pronouncement that government officials who prioritize business interest should resign.

Yet to be appointed and confirmed DENR Secretary Gina Lopez recently made a bizarre pronouncement. She said that government officials who prioritize business interest should resign.

We can only surmise that she is having an episode and is talking to herself. Surely, she cannot ask of others to resign while her family’s Rockwell property is guilty of putting Filipinos at risk with their irresponsible disposal of hazardous waste. Surely, she cannot be referring to others as she herself has committed graft in purchasing equipment for the rehabilitation of the Pasig River that have never been used and are now rusting, while the Pasig River continue to deteriorate. Surely, she is not forgetting the fact that while she closed mining companies for mining along watersheds, the Lopez-owned First Balfour is allowed to continue operating within a watershed.

Let us not forget, she has the backing of an enormous media clout as her family just happens to own the biggest network in the country. The Lopez group is also poised to monopolize green energy in the Philippines. Surely, she is aware of all the conflict of interest she has with her position.

Either she is having an episode or she is a first-class hypocrite. Or both. Whichever it is, as long as Gina Lopez is heading DENR, we all lose

VIRAL: Vilifying the Mining Industry and why we need to listen MORE to Scientists

Some quarters are painting this as good vs evil. Why is mining evil? If we are to believe the misinformed, we could say it is anti-poor and anti-environment.

In this corner, we have Gina Lopez, NGOs, environmentalists, some religious personalities and Winnie Monsod. Oh, and the whole Lopez clan.

In that corner, we have the mining companies, its stakeholders, geologists and scientists.

Some quarters are painting this as good vs evil. Why is mining evil? If we are to believe the misinformed, we could say that it is anti-poor and anti-environment; it destroys the earth and… well, I don’t know how it is anti-poor.

Most people still believe that mining renders the soil and the water surrounding the sites uninhabitable and non-arable. It is not mining. It’s the minerals. Heavy metals make agriculture impossible. If surrounded by water, these metals prevent fisheries to prosper because the water will be uninhabitable.

So-called pundits also argue that the country benefits from the measly less than 1 percent contribution of mining to its coffers. Mining is only present in MIMAROPA and CARAGA regions. That is less than 2 pecent of the country. Context is important, as any writer or journalist worth their salt would know. What these pundits fail to account for is that mining impacts the income and employment of people wherever it is present–people who would otherwise not have jobs, let alone the income, as agriculture and fisheries are impossible in their area.

In this battle if perceptions, cold, hard facts and data are needed. The beauty of science is that it is always true regardless of how others may try and discredit it. While this post may not reach as many as Winnie Monsod’s, the facts and data will still hold true regardless.

Somebody please feature more scientists like geologist Dr. Caloy Arcilla. For unlike other so-called experts, they actually know what they are talking about.
